# Notetaking
- One prominent strand of writing research has highlighted the importance of taking notes as a moment of the writing process.
- For my purposes note is a unit of writing that is not intended for publication and that contains at least one main idea.
- We write notes for many reasons including:
- To record information,
- To work out our thoughts,
- To organize our ideas,
- To practice new ways of thinking.
